5 months old......

.....almost 4 weeks ago!!!

I'm really behind but I want to get his 5 month post in before he turns 6 months old TOMORROW!!!

4 weeks ago tomorrow Braxton turned 5 months old! He is growing up SO FAST!

Braxton didn't have to many firsts at 5 months. Instead he has been working hard to improve on all of the things he has learned and been working on.

At 5 months Braxton is....

  • rolling over a little more. He rolled from back to front a couple of times but isn't such a fan of his tummy and usually gets frustrated before he can get back to his back!
  • laughing really well
  • getting so much better with his hand-eye coordination!
  • eating rice cereal well. He really likes it and gobbles it up!
  • starting to look for voices. When ever he hears someone talk, especially voices he recognizes or those who talk loud, he looks around for them to try and figure out where the voice is. The voice has to be constant for a little bit of time before he can zone in on it and realize it's there and that he wants to find it!
  • a Drool Monster! His chin, the neck of his shirt and his hands are always wet!
  • sleeping well though the night! We are so grateful for that.

Braxton LOVES

  • His hands! They are probably his new favorite food and toy! They are ALWAYS IN HIS MOUTH.
  • to still loves to have something in his mouth - on the rare occasion that it's not his hands you'll find a toy taking their place.
  • to still have a blanket to snuggle with at bed time! He can be asleep in less than a minute if he has a blanket he can put over his eyes!

Braxton is learning so much and getting so good at the things he is learning! We LOVE you Braxton~

  • His hands

Finals Week

You know it's finals week at our house because nothing gets done! Our house is a mess, we eat freezer meals more than normal and we are super sleepy! Finals week this semester was the first week of August. Because my class was a Friday class and the last day of the semester was a Thursday we ended a week early! My mom helped us out so much by watching Braxton for us on Fridays while I was at class. On Friday, July 30th after my final Braxton and I went to the Living Planet Aquarium with Grandma Donna and Jason and Lexi! It was pretty fun. I was actually pretty impressed - even Braxon liked some of it. While looking into the different aquariums if there were big colorful fish to catch Braxton's attention he would watch them swim back and forth across the glass. They have a lot of really cool things to see there.

The best thing about Finals week is when it's over and we can get our house clean and get back to our normal living!

Thanks again Grandma Donna for your help with Braxton while I was in class! I don't know what we would have done without your help!

Braxton meets Zuri.....

....... and lets just say he wasn't to impressed!!

We went to the Zoo the first Friday of August (August 6th) with my family. The zoo has changed a lot since I have been there last - many, many years ago. It was nice to get out and see the animals. We went later in the afternoon (we got there about 2:00) so it was nice and warm and most of the animals were hard to see hiding in the shade or were inside!

I think we'll wait to go again until Braxton is a little older and starting to understand animals and their noises so he will enjoy himself a little more. Also, we'll go earlier in the day before it gets to warm.

It's hard to see but in the holes from left to right are: Jason, Lexi, and me and Braxton in the far right one together!

~CUDDLING WITH A SLEEPING BABY~
There's nothing much better than cuddling with a sleepy snugly baby. It is so comforting and relaxing. I have a hard time putting him down knowing that I won't be able to cuddle him forever. I want to be sure and take advantage of it while I can!

24th Weekend 2010

Our 24th weekend was nothing to exciting. With Nate being in Young Mens as the Deacon's quorum adviser and the Assistant Scout Master it is kind of important that he goes to Scout Camp. It was a week long camp split into 3 days for the leaders to take turns. Nate was asked to go up from Wednesday evening through Saturday afternoon!

Because Nate was gone Braxton, Chloee and I stayed Thursday and Friday night with my parents. It was nice! It brought back some good memories and it was fun to spend a couple of days with them just hanging out. We watched movies, played games, visited with Grandpa Davis, went to a gymnastic review for Lexi, had a yummy homemade breakfast Saturday morning and missed Nate.

After Nate came home on Saturday the 24th we washed the car and then headed to a friends for a little BBQ and hang out.

It was nice to spend some time hanging out with friends and family but it was even better to have Nate back home with us~

~ A LONG NIGHTS SLEEP~

Braxton was such a good boy last night. By the time he got to bed last night it was about 9:00 and he got up 1 or two times for his pacifier (I can't remember for sure exactly how many times) which is pretty normal.

Braxton is our alarm clock now days. We haven't had to set an alarm, except for only a couple of days, for Nate to get up for work since Braxton was born. This morning I woke up and it seemed pretty light in our room so being a little confused I looked over at the clock and saw 7:40! I was shocked that Braxton wasn't up yet. I layed there for a minute and kept telling myself that I should get up and take advantage of what little time was left before he woke up to get some stuff done around the house. I obviously didn't do a very good job convincing myself. The next thing I knew I woke up to Nate getting up to get in the shower at about 8:10 and Braxton didn't get up until almost 8:30!!! What surprised me even more is that when he woke up he was so happy! He was a little fussy before we got him up because he didn't want to be alone in his crib but once Nate got him up he was all smiles.

Thank you for the good night sleep pal - and for letting mommy and daddy sleep in!

~OUR HUMBLE LITTLE HOME~

Nate and I had a chance of a lifetime a couple of weeks ago. My mother-in-laws cousin is a millionaire and we were able to go to her house for a little family get together (a pool party and pizza) in their side yard! After touring her yard and home it made me so grateful that I have the "little" yard that I do with the "little" bit of grass and "little" flower gardens that it has. I'm so grateful for the "little" bit of work that is required of it. I am also grateful for our

  • 2 1/2 bathrooms

  • 4 bedrooms

  • 1 family/living room

  • 1 kitchen (with 1 fridge, 1 stove, 1 dishwasher)

  • dining room

  • 1 laundry room and

  • 2 car garage

that I have to try and keep clean as opposed to

  • 2 kitchens

  • 2 family rooms

  • 1 24 seat theatre room

  • 1/2 court basketball court

  • 2 laundry rooms

  • 2 dining rooms

  • 7 bedrooms (all complete with bathrooms and walk in closets)

  • office

  • 2 exercise rooms

  • 6 car garage

and whatever other rooms I can't think of now!

Need I say more......

half of one of their side yard

I must say that the lady who owns the house is one of the most humble, grateful, kind people I have ever met in my life! She was so sweet and so grateful to everyone who came! She loves having people over and does such a good job at making everyone feel so welcome! Thanks for giving us the chance of our life time and letting us hang out at your amazing home!

New Favorite Food......

RICE CEREAL?????

Yes, it's true. Braxton LOVES rice cereal and he is so good with it! He picked up the whole eating with a spoon really quick. In fact, by the time he finished his first bowl ever he had it down. Knowing how much he likes the boring flavor of rice cereal and how well he does being spoon fed we can't wait to give him real food; yummy things to try! Only 3 more weeks pal!

I'm a little behind again but fed him with a spoon for the first time about 4 weeks ago. These pictures were taken the third time we fed him!

Ready to eat

Braxton loves to help get the spoon in his mouth; although we usually miss his mouth when he tries to help!!

LAZY MORNINGS

Because I leave for work so early in the morning and the mornings I don't work Braxton usually wakes up in the morning very hungry and upset we don't get many lazy mornings! We had the chance to have our first lazy Saturday over the 4th of July weekend since I started back to work after my maternity leave! It was such a nice morning. Braxton woke up happy and we didn't have any early morning plans. I got Braxton out of bed and brought him in with Nate and I and we all just hung out together! We layed in bed and talked and giggled and sang songs and played! With not a worry in the world we were able to hang out together, all three of us, in bed for a good part of the morning. What a great way to start the day~

So I'm a little behind on my posts so I'll try and do a couple though week to make up for them.
