It's All About The Little Things~
Braxton was such a good boy last night. By the time he got to bed last night it was about 9:00 and he got up 1 or two times for his pacifier (I can't remember for sure exactly how many times) which is pretty normal.
Braxton is our alarm clock now days. We haven't had to set an alarm, except for only a couple of days, for Nate to get up for work since Braxton was born. This morning I woke up and it seemed pretty light in our room so being a little confused I looked over at the clock and saw 7:40! I was shocked that Braxton wasn't up yet. I layed there for a minute and kept telling myself that I should get up and take advantage of what little time was left before he woke up to get some stuff done around the house. I obviously didn't do a very good job convincing myself. The next thing I knew I woke up to Nate getting up to get in the shower at about 8:10 and Braxton didn't get up until almost 8:30!!! What surprised me even more is that when he woke up he was so happy! He was a little fussy before we got him up because he didn't want to be alone in his crib but once Nate got him up he was all smiles.
Thank you for the good night sleep pal - and for letting mommy and daddy sleep in!

It's All About the Little Things~
Nate and I had a chance of a lifetime a couple of weeks ago. My mother-in-laws cousin is a millionaire and we were able to go to her house for a little family get together (a pool party and pizza) in their side yard! After touring her yard and home it made me so grateful that I have the "little" yard that I do with the "little" bit of grass and "little" flower gardens that it has. I'm so grateful for the "little" bit of work that is required of it. I am also grateful for our
- 2 1/2 bathrooms
- 4 bedrooms
- 1 family/living room
- 1 kitchen (with 1 fridge, 1 stove, 1 dishwasher)
- dining room
- 1 laundry room and
- 2 car garage
that I have to try and keep clean as opposed to
- 2 kitchens
- 2 family rooms
- 1 24 seat theatre room
- 1/2 court basketball court
- 2 laundry rooms
- 2 dining rooms
- 7 bedrooms (all complete with bathrooms and walk in closets)
- office
- 2 exercise rooms
- 6 car garage
and whatever other rooms I can't think of now!
Need I say more......
half of one of their side yard
I must say that the lady who owns the house is one of the most humble, grateful, kind people I have ever met in my life! She was so sweet and so grateful to everyone who came! She loves having people over and does such a good job at making everyone feel so welcome! Thanks for giving us the chance of our life time and letting us hang out at your amazing home!
It's All About the Little Things~
Because I leave for work so early in the morning and the mornings I don't work Braxton usually wakes up in the morning very hungry and upset we don't get many lazy mornings! We had the chance to have our first lazy Saturday over the 4th of July weekend since I started back to work after my maternity leave! It was such a nice morning. Braxton woke up happy and we didn't have any early morning plans. I got Braxton out of bed and brought him in with Nate and I and we all just hung out together! We layed in bed and talked and giggled and sang songs and played! With not a worry in the world we were able to hang out together, all three of us, in bed for a good part of the morning. What a great way to start the day~

It's all about the LITTLE things~ (4 month update)
It's so nice to go to a Doctors appointment for Braxton and only hear good things! His hip didn't pop, his clogged tear duct eye is getting better, he's growing like he should, and we can start feeding him cereal!
It was so fun to hear that he was healthy, that he is on track - even a little advanced with his rolling over, and all the fun things we get to look forward to him doing over the next couple of months!
The only not so good thing we heard is that the left side of his head is a little flat but we still got good news out of it - it hasn't displaced his ears yet?!?! That's a very good thing. She said to keep him on his right side as much as possible and as much as he'll allow and it should go back on it's own.
We went last Thursday 7/8/10 - yes, it was a little late but our Doctor is hard to get into. He's in the 10th% for weight weighing 13.1 pounds and 50th% for length at 25.1 inches long. So, needless to say, he's long and skinny!
Braxton is getting so big and we are so grateful that he is so healthy!

It's All About The Little Things......
I was woken up this morning at 5:45am to a very hungry little guy although he wasn't in full hysterics yet! I went down and made a bottle wondering if this was going to be an early morning or if he might go back to sleep after eating. As I walked into his room I wasn't really paying to much attention to him. I went straight back to the wall to unplug his night light (he was getting plenty of natural light in through his window). As I went over to his crib and leaned over to get him out I saw he was cuddling and playing with his blanket. He looked at me and with a full face grin let out a little giggle and started talking! After seeing and hearing that I knew it was going to be an early morning!
I can't think of a better way to start the day~

It's all about the little things......
A full nights sleep
Braxton has been sleeping through the night (8:30 or 9 until between 4 and 6) for a couple of months now which is something we definitely took for granted until last night! We're not sure what got into him but 9:00pm until 3:30am when I finally gave in and fed him he was up about 4 times screaming! Then from about 3:50am when he went back to bed until I left for work at 6:00 he was up about 4 more times! I'm not sure what time he finally got Nate up! Last night was a hard night for all of us. But I've learned that it's good to have those bad nights every once in a while to remind us how lucky we are that he normally does sleep so well through the night! We definitely got spoiled with one good little guy!

It's all about the LITTLE THINGS~
And sometimes it's the little things that don't matter at all!!
When I went to pick Braxton up from Grandma Hollie's on Monday after work this is what I saw.... (you dad's might not get it but I'm pretty sure you mom's will!)
All, I could say was "Oh buddy, look at you!" And Grandma Hollie responded, "That's all that was in the diaper bag for him, I promise!"
On the way home, after laughing about it for a little bit I realized that it doesn't matter! At least he had cloths packed to wear!
It also reminded me how grateful and lucky I am to have such an amazing and supportive husband who is willing to get Braxton to Grandma's house on his way to work on Monday and Tuesday when I work also. That he gets the diaper bag ready on the mornings I don't have time and gets clothes out for him to wear the mornings I forget, even if he looks like that!
Thanks for all of your help babe and for the wonderful husband and father that you are. Also, for reminding me that sometimes it's the little things that don't matter!

It's all about the LITTLE THINGS~
~CHLOEE'S UNDERWEAR~
Your probably thinking, really? But this was really a blessing in disguise! Chloee went into heat the beginning of February this year. We were anxiously anticipating when the day would come that she would go into heat while also dreading the idea at the same time! We knew it should be anytime and were excited with the idea of getting it out of the way and knowing that the next heat cycle that comes around after this one we can breed her! I was a little worried though because I wanted it to be finished before the baby came and we got the carpets cleaned. A dog in heat = a very big mess!
Well the day finally came and totally caught us off guard. We were not prepared at all! I remembered my parents putting underwear on our dog while growing up so we decided to give it a try. Let's just say, Chloee wasn't a fan and she knew she had an advantage against me who was 9 months pregnant and usually the one stuck trying to get it on her! It lasted about 2 and 1/2 weeks but toward the end she finally accepted and got used to the fact that she had to wear her underwear!
The two hardest parts about it were 1- trying to remember to take it off before we let her outside to go to the bathroom and then trying to get her to stay still to put them back on when she came in and 2- keeping them on her at night!
So, for those of you who have girl dogs and decide you want to breed her just keep all of this in mind! After going through that long 2 1/2 weeks we decided that we didn't have a choice but to breed her! There was no way we were going to have gone through all that for nothing!
SO...... now for the blessing behind it! Well, the pictures them selves are hilarious now! It's definitely one of those things that you look back at and laugh! I meant to take more pictures of her different fashion statements but we had other things going on at the moment! The second blessing is that her heat cycle ended 1 week before Braxton ended up being born!! There is no way I could have had a dog in heat and a new born! It couldn't have been much closer! We also are so glad that this is behind us for a couple more months!

It's all about the LITTLE THINGS~
Baby Giggles
Braxton giggled for the first time yesterday and I almost cried! It was so exciting! He only does it if you tickle him on his chest just under his collar bones! Just the last couple of days he has become pretty ticklish but would only smile his big smile and open his mouth like he was trying so hard to get something to come out - but nothing ever would. Last night I was tickling him and expecting nothing but big smiles. So I was totally surprised when I heard him giggle and giggle and giggle! He hasn't done it so much today. I think it's because I used up all his giggles last night - tickling him over and over just to hear his adorable little giggle!
It is so fun and absolutely amazing to see Braxton and the little things he is learning. I wonder how people who have seen little ones grow up can say they don't believe in a higher being. The way that everything works from their development and growth both in the womb and out as well as actually getting them here! It's amazing how most of the time, everything happens exactly they way it's supposed to and when it's supposed too. There are so many little things that could go wrong and they usually don't! Hearing Braxton giggle for the first time is just another reminder to me that Heavenly Father is truly there and is aware of me!
I just now discovered that Braxton also giggles when he is tickled under his arms and on his belly!!

It's all about the LITTLE THINGS~
I start this week with Baby Feet!
Every time I see them I smile. Whenever I hold Braxton I have to hold his feet too! Their so fun to tickle and I love playing with their reflex! I love their wrinkles and little round toes. I can't help but kiss them whenever their naked and admire how fast they grow!
